hi and welcome to another episode of dick in the kitchen today we're going to be making one of my very favorite Ina Garden recipes with a little twist to it we're going to make it a little spicy and a little sweet too we're going to be making hot honey crispy garlic chicken in a cast iron skillet it's so easy to make and not only is it so easy to make but it's really good too so why don't we get into it okay here we go this is what we're going to need we need four chicken thighs with the skin on and bone in two teaspoons of kosher salt one teaspoon of fresh ground black pepper about a quarter to a third a cup of all-purpose flour two tablespoons of olive oil a half a cup of dry white wine a third a cup of chicken stock one tablespoon of minced garlic and two tablespoons of fresh thyme leaves if you're going to make the hot honey yourself you're going to need a half a lemon zested and Juiced one tablespoon of soy sauce and a quarter cup of honey and lastly but not least we need our trusty cast iron skillet next we preheat our oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit season both sides of your chicken thighs with salt and pepper and be generous with your seasoning that you form a crust that'll make your chicken incredibly flavorful next dread your chicken in the flour making sure all sides are coated evenly this will give you that delicious crispy skin pour your two tablespoons of olive oil into your Skillet and heat it over medium heat until the oil is shimmering and carefully place your chicken in the skillet skin side down now cook the chicken until the skin is a golden brown color that usually takes about 10 minutes so make sure you don't move the chicken while you're cooking then you flip the chicken over and cook the other side for another five minutes when that's done remove the chicken from the skillet while you make the base now to the skillet we add the dry white wine chicken stock minced garlic and fresh thyme allow these ingredients to simmer together for a minute or two this creates a beautifully aromatic base for our chicken to cook in now put the chicken back in this Skillet with the skin side up then transfer your Skillet to a preheated oven and let the chicken roast inside up for about 10 minutes without disturbing while our chicken is roasting let's prep our hot honey and lemon you can buy hot honey pre-made or if you want you can make it yourself simply combine the zest and juice of one half lemon one tablespoon of soy sauce and one teaspoon of sriracha combine that with three tablespoons of honey and mix it together well let's add a bit of Zing to our dish sprinkle the hot honey and lemon over the chicken this cuts through the richness of the chicken and brightens all all the flavors sweet and spicy Twist on Ina's chicken really makes this dish be sure to give each piece a good coating of the hot honey mixture finally let's return the chicken skin side up to the oven for another five minutes this allows the hot honey to caramelize and give the chicken its wonderful sticky finish here we go our chickens now beautifully golden crispy and glazed with that spicy honey let it rest for a few minutes before serving serve your chicken with your favorite sides and enjoy this Ina Garden comfort food classic with a Twist don't forget to like share and subscribe for more Fearless cooking so we'll see you the next time thanks for coming
